Ajmer...my home
We reached the motherland when we landed in Delhi airport and continued our onward journey to Ajmer. We finally reached our final destination and it was the most joyous moment was when we reached home to be welcomed by Baby Masi and Nanisab (maternal grandmother). I feel so warm each time I see them; I love them so much. Although we were exhausted from the whole day of travelling, the excitement of being home got to us. Everyone was chatting away; spilling travel tales, bringing out the gifts. The feeling of being home was finally sinking in.
My Nani's home in Ajmer for me is my home in India. For me Ajmer is my city, I know the place and the people; it is always great to be back in Ajmer. Actually Ajmer is my mother's city; she was born and brought up there. She studied there, made her career there and was married off from there. The greatest gift she gave my sister and I was when she decided that her children would be born in this lovely city of Ajmer- Sharif.
Speaking of which, like always my family made a trip to the darga. It is such a spiritual experience going there and even more meaningful as we went there a day before Eid. The crowd and the atmosphere were amazing. We were also lucky to witness the daig being functional. The daig is a massive cooking pot in the darga and is large enough for an adult person to stand in. A kind of porridge is cooked in it to be handed out to the poor. The most amazing thing is that when the cooking is done, the people serving the food jump into the boiling porridge to scoop it out. No one ever burns; power of faith.
Other than the darga, we made our usual visit to Pushkar which is a small holly valley-town 2 hours away from Ajmer. Other than its beautiful temples and ghats, it boosts a vibrant and modern tourist market. The market caters to the tourists due to which you can find spaghetti strap tops, tube tops, ultra miniskirts, Arabian pants, hot pants and the kind being sold in ethnic prints and materials. This is quite a shock as the state of Rajasthan is a conservative state.
Being in Ajmer also means watching movies with Raju Mama and going to Mango Masala. The best part is my sister, Raju Mama and me ride on his motorcycle. Add to the bike ride the winter cold, the fun factor gets upped seriously once we're zipping around town on the bike.
Following the things Ajmer means for me and my family, we celebrated our New Year there. It was a small and simple New Year with family and my mother's best friend and her husband. We played crazy games, had a crazy dance item (by Paru, Chotu Didi and me) and had a delicious pineapple cake.

my trip to india
this time along with the usual traveling to meet relatives, my family travelled to jabalpur (in the state of madhaya pradesh) for my cousin's wedding. since we were in MP, we ended up travelling around MP. so in this trip my family visited Delhi, Ajmer and Jaipur (in Rajasthan), Jabalpur, Maihar, Satna, Panna and Khajhurao (in MP) and Mumbai (in Maharastra). *phew*
as expected we spent a substantial time travelling. infact we had 3 16hour train journeys, Jaipur to Jabalpur, Jabalpur to Mumbai and Mumbai to Jaipur. other than travelling in trains we travelled in buses, autos, SUVs, safari jeeps, jeeps and, the usual cars and motorcycles. all in all i can safely say my ass was numb most of the time....
our vacation started when we landed in delhi airport on the evening of 3rd dec 2006. we travelled to ajmer straight from delhi. we were there till the afternoon of 6th dec and then we were off to jaipur. we spent 4 days in the Pink City.
on the 10th afternoon we left Rajasthan and moved to the state of MP. we travelled to the city of Jabalpur by tain. this was the 1st of our 16 hours journey. according to our schedule we were supposed to be in Jabalpur till the evening of 15th of Dec. however due to riots breaking out in Bengal our train out of Jabalpur got cancelled. the cancellation of our train left us with 4 extra days in Jabalpur. with nothing to do in Jabalpur my father decided for us to travel around Jabalpur.
so we left Jabalpur late in the evening on 16th Dec. we had rented a Tavera (an SUV) and gotten a driver. we drove to the town of Maihar, reaching there late night. we moved on from there to Khajhurao on 17th Dec. we stopped in Satna on the way for an hour or so. our road trip continued till we arrived in Khajhurao in the evening of 17th Dec.
we travelled to Panna for 3-4hours on 18th Dec and spent the rest of the day in Khajhurao. we moved out of Khajhurao late in the evening and reached Jabalpur in the early hours of 19th Dec. we finally moved out of Jabalpur in the evening. back in the train, we travelled another 16 hours to Mumbai.
we reached Mumbai on the 20th of dec. the Mumbai trip was one packed full of activities. altogether we spent 5 days there. the weekend spent there is one i can never forget in my life. after spending christmas in Mumbai, we headed back to Rajasthan on the 26th of Dec.
after travelling for 16hours once again in the train, we arrived back in Jaipur. there we had a Qualis, an SUV, waiting for us. we drove to on, reaching Ajmer on 27th night. from there on we were in Ajmer.
we went to Jaipur for 2days and 1 night on the 30th of Dec, mainly for shopping. on 1st of Jan we made another day trip to Pushkar. on the morning of 3rd of Jan we made our final trip out of Ajmer. we travelled by Tavera, an SUV, to Jaipur. we stopped there for lunch before moving on to Delhi. on our way to Delhi we stopped at Bairoar midway for a rest and quick freshening up.

expressing emotions...
Yet I still try again and again
Maybe its all in vain, maybe I expect too much
But that is just what I am
I know am complicated
However I have made peace with that
I am happy and content
Yet time and again someone comes along
Bringing with them the doubts
How do I explain?
What do I justify
Why should I justify what I am?
I am who I am
People see me and yet not see me
I don’t blame them
I don’t blame myself either
2 people who matter know me for what I am
That is all I need,
this is why I am
What I have written here is my attempt to express my emotions
The last 2 days have been the best in my life
I was filled with so much happiness,
I don’t need anything else
Memories are the true treasures of life
And my treasure chest is filled for perpetuity
I say this with a warm heart
Wishing the impossible,
I wish I could stop time
It is hard to count my blessing,
And I don’t want to
It is hard to put it in worlds,
But I still try to
All I can say, all that I need to say
I am filled with a sense of being complete
